EC-TEL 2006 Best Paper Awards

The selection process for this years best full and short paper awards was very though. From the more than 200 submissions, in a strenuous discussion process, the best full and short papers were selected. The award ceremony took place at the conference dinner under the Cretan stars, situated in the beautiful and romantic “small island”-like setting of the luxury hotel pool.

At this year’s EC-TEL 2006, the Ariadne foundation sponsored best paper award goes to Maria Bielikova and Peter Nagy from the Slovak University of Technology for their paper “Considering Human Memory Aspects for Adaptation and Its Realization in AHA!”. Stefaan Ternier, representative of the Ariadne foundation, presented the certificate, together with a rather nice piece of contemporary information technology, a fully-featured iPod with the largest possible hard-disk.

Furthermore, the best short paper award, also sponsored by the Ariadne foundation, goes to the paper “Developing a Reference Model to describe the Personal Learning Environment” by Colin D. Milligan, Phillip Beauvoir, Mark W. Johnson, Paul Sharples, Scott Wilson and Oleg Liber from the Universities of Strathclyde and Bolton. Apart from the certificate, the authors received a fully-featured iPod nano from Stefaan Ternier.
